Firsthand Experiences - Part 02 _ Arrival
Mr. Eric Turner informed me that he had been living in Plainview for a little less than six years. Upon arrival, the first thing he took notice of was how incredibly flat everything was. He had been driving in from the direction of Amarillo at night when he first arrived. From a distance he saw what appeared to be roads with street lights of varying intensities. The next day, he realized that these lights that appeared to be varying in brightness, were really separated by miles of distance.
In my opinion, the flatness of the land here is almost overwhelming at first - especially when you realize how far you can see. It takes some getting used to, but it is part of what makes west Texas unique.
