Next, I asked Mr. Turner about the many events that Plainview holds. He listed off several, the first being Plainview's 7th annual Fool's cup which had started as a hot air balloon show.
The balloons launch around 7:30 am. While the balloons are preparing to launch, the Lions Club sells breakfast burritos. Also, on Saturday, there is a golf tournament beginning at 9 am. There is also the Wayland Wellness Run featuring a one-mile walk and 10K runs, and a half-marathon. For children under age eleven, there is an Easter Egg Hunt which is sponsored by Plainview’s First Assembly of God Church. This year there were 20,000 eggs filled with goodies.

lainview also holds a number of parades beginning in June with the Rodeo Parade, the Juneteenth Parade and the Red, White and Moo Parade which is held on the fourth of July. It is hosted by the Hale county dairy families and includes a freedom parade and events, food and fun.
September holds Plainview’s Cowboy days which contain a long list of events including a Chuck Wagon Breakfast, fireworks displays, a cattle drive and parade, classic car show, horse rides, piƱatas, bar-none ranch rodeo, cowboy church and a rodeo dance to name a few.
